8 Piece and Wooden Block
Drawing inspiration from the traditional techniques of craftsmen in the Echizen region of Japan, our stunning Damascus Elite knives are fully optimised for exceptional quality and performance. Boasting unrivalled layered steel blades and octagonal shaped handles crafted from remarkably durable resin wood, Damascus Elite truly stands as the ultimate choice.
Our Damascus Elite 8 piece set includes a 9cm paring knife, 13cm utility knife, 13 and 17cm santoku, 15 and 20cm chefs knife, 23cm bread knife and a 25cm carving knife, and comes with our exquisitely designed, purpose-built Damascus knife block.
Crafted from world renowned Japanese Damascus stainless steel, with a VG10 high carbon core for a cutting edge with exceptional sharpness. The core is encased in 66 layers of rust-resistant steel, denoted by a striking and unique blade pattern that has been highly polished to beautifully showcase the layered steel. What’s more, it is stone ground to a traditional 12° angle for optimal sharpness and precision.
VG10
The 'G' in VG10 stands for 'gold,' referring to the gold standard this grade of stainless steel has achieved. Most knives fall into one of two categories: carbon or stainless steel. Carbon knives are known for their hardness but are also prone to rusting. Stainless steel knives are rust-resistant but often lack the same level of hardness found in carbon knives. However, the Japanese found a way to achieve the perfect balance between the two. VG10 blends the desirable attributes of carbon and stainless steel into one high performance material.
HRC 60
The HRC rating is the official Rockwell hardness rating of the metal. The higher the number, the harder the knife and the longer the blade will hold its edge. With Damascus Elite’s Rockwell hardness rating (HRC) of 60, it is the optimal hardness for VG10 steel.
Resin Wood Handles
Resin wood handles exude remarkable strength and unmatched quality, ensuring a lifetime of service in the kitchen. Carefully crafted with an octagonal shape and high gloss design, the handles provide natural resting points for the fingers for a supremely comfortable and secure grip. Each handle is adorned with a beautiful rivet that details the Japanese symbol for strength, further enhancing its unique charm.
Steel Composition
Using stainless steel containing 1% carbon, Damascus Elite knives offer outstanding edge retention. 15% chrome provides high corrosion resistance making the steel more resilient to tarnishing and general stains. Molybdenum, vanadium and cobalt work in partnership with the high carbon content to further strengthen the blade and improve stain resistance.
Stylish Storage Solution
Beautifully crafted from South American walnut, our wooden knife block offers a superior way to store your knives. With a sleek, slimline design, this block is the perfect companion for our Damascus Elite knife range and stores up to 8 knives. Unlike a traditional knife block, the deep open slots of this block allow the blades to face away from the wood, removing any chance of blunting and ensuring blades stay sharper for longer. This clever, easily accessible construction means each knife can be safely pulled out towards you, allowing you to position the block underneath cupboards - perfect where countertop storage is limited.
